Creative conditioning Strength Progressive

Hello extraordinary humans,

The next series of Creative Conditioning starts Monday, May 25th and still has a couple spots open.

This is an all levels strength focused progressive geared towards hypermobile bodies and creative movers.

Over 6 weeks we will build confidence and awareness around core exercises and explore how changes in load, tempo and over all workout structure can create new connections and better pay offs outside of the gym.

No previous strength training or movement experience required.

The class will include a warm up focused on nervous system care and optimizing joint position and awareness before heading into the main body of the workout. Class will close with a cool down and informal question period.

A bonus addition to this class is the (optional) group WhatsApp where I share the workout structures so you can play with them later and folks share victories, complaints and pet pics.

The Details:

Class dates: May 25, June 1, 8, 25, 22, 29

Time: 6pm - approximately 7:15pm

Location: Fitness Science 379 terminal ave

Cost: $200.00 + taxes

In Creative Conditioning you will:

  • Learn to support your joint and connective tissue health while training for the strength and performance gains you're craving.
  • Discover a world of cross training that goes beyond the typical lifts and machines.
  • Enjoy training your body in a way that not only supports your goals, but your health.
  • Build a positive relationship with "the gym"
  • This series is for anyone who wants a positive connection with movement that support the things they love

And check out this post and this post for examples on what classes explore/can look like!

Each 75min class will include:

  • A warm up/body check in focused on joint and nervous system health
  • Strength and connective tissue conditioning to build stronger muscles, safer joints, better connections and expand your movement capacity
  • A generous cool down to book end the session and have you leaving the gym feeling GOOD (and tired)
  • Modifications, progressions and adaptations will always be offered.
  • These classes are a great compliment to any training program as their structure makes them both effective and easy to recover from
  • The bulk of the workout will be done in 60 minutes, the final 15 will be fore an extending cool down and questions

Some FAQS:

  • I’m working with an injury: I can provide modifications/substitutions where necessary as long as you are in a place with your rehab where you are cleared to move. If you have any questions about you specific situation please hit reply
  • I‘m new to cross training: Awesome! This class is a great place to start!
  • I’m hypermobile: Me too :) I will have lots of options for progressions, modifications and props so we can all feel good while doing hard stuff.

As always, hit reply with any questions

Hello extraordinary humans, This month I am celebrating a real measurable milestone in my concussion recovery: I can now “happily” maintain a heart rate for 130BPM on a stationary bike for 25 minutes. It’s honestly huge deal and something that I am incredibly proud of. Towards the end of last summer, I unofficially stopped training. Not just aerial, not just things that hurt, EVERYTHING. My exercise intolerance and fatigue from the concussion were too extreme and I was constantly crashing and...

Hello extraordinary humans, I’ve got 2 great workshops coming up this month in Vancouver: Shoulder Play - August 17th at 6pm And Beyond the Exhale - August 24th at 6pm Moved to the fall date TBD I’ll be teaching this exercise in both of them: Rock Back Breathing Why? Because your shoulder mechanics and your breathing mechanics are incredibly linked. This exercise looks at getting better rib cage expansion, specifically through the posterior chain, an area that is usually pretty locked down...

Hello extraordinary humans, Three months ago I was told by my doctor that it was time to start “being realistic” about my recovery from this concussion. I think it’s obvious to state that I was not pleased with her suggestion (and yes, I very politely pushed back - more on that below.) After the conversation I immediately called my mom and declared: “I don’t want to be realistic, I want to be delusional!” The thing is, I have never gotten anything I have ever wanted by just being realistic....
